I've been on this long journey finding out the right sub for me and it had me always going back to the 14060 as a first option..

Here's the pros:

1) lugs taper better even compared to the latest sub. Hell, my SD43 tapers better compared to the new sub.

2) lug holes

3) 40mm case although Rolex did a good job calling the new one a 41 (I think they did that to generate buzz) but is actually still 40 in feel given that it's only a less than half a millimeter bigger than the 114060

4) you've had it for years. Looks like you've worn it well.

5) probably not as precious to have it serviced outside of RSC. A real workhorse

6) I prefer the 2-liner but it's still a well-balanced dial even with the extra 2 lines

There are no cons relative to the new one as there is no perfect sub. Somehow I think Rolex has it in their DNA to make you the perfect imperfect watch so that you'd always be looking forward to the next iteration.. to see if they finally got it "right".

Whatever you do, don't sell it. It's never a good idea to sell a Rolex when you don't need the money.

Redundant with the new sub? As one poster said, not at all. I think it can work. You can baby the new one, for starters. And then you never ever have to worry about strap changes smile

Again, whatever you do, DO NOT SELL THIS ONE smile

Sunday ruminations - What’s your opinion?

My [LGF] Submariner has been a trusted and versatile companion over the years. As you see here, I’ve been wearing it on a cardura strap that I sourced from Jean Rousseau, in part because of the old “rattly” bracelet. Now, with the arrival of the new Subma...

I don’t think so.

The two have (to our eyes, and yours too) material differences. And if you decide to keep the current Sub on a strap then that’s even more differentiation. You are also asking this in a place where having and identical watch save for the font on the dial ...

You forget the new movement, 21 mm bracelet, new clasp and the ceramic bezel

To me the above sounds like a completely new watch 🤔

Thank you, Count.

Absolutely, those features are not lost on me; but I see that I wasn’t weighting them properly until you and the others pointed it out.

You mean the no-date, correct Nico?

 By: ArmisT : October 4th, 2020-14:04
I know your preference for no-date dials, which is a sentiment I share (and which is also influenced by you). Sometimes the fact that I need to set the date on a given watch makes me overlook it for any no-date that I can set quicker. It’s lazy and a poor...

I’m convinced.

Thank you for reinforcing those points. I unfairly overlooked them.

Go get the 124060! [nt]

Not redundant, if, you keep the current version on a strap..

And the new Rollie on a bracelet. Then, in my opinion, you'll have two watches without having to change straps and cause un-necessary scratches...
