Rolex

Radium

If I I am correct the Atomic commission of the USA . Set rules on radium dials in the early 60s . Due to lots of watchmakers falling ill.

.
.

So what you see on early 1960s Rolex they changed from radium to tritium .
.
.

That is also the period  when the underline or exclamtion dot on the 6 o clock position appeared on the dial . As a way to show they have been tested for radium .
.

I also believe that it was only for USA market Rolex.
.

Rolex passion report has a great write up on that .
