Oyster bracelet permanent link removal....

I did something I thought I'd never do. I removed a permanent link. I know some of you are against it (many say wear it the way it is or just put it on a strap) or some of you are for it (pull that sucker off). Well, I chose the latter. With the help of my pliers, small flathead screwdriver and a hammer it came right off. Not a scratch on the other links (I wrapped the bracelet with a plastic wrap). Did some research and finally took the plunge. I love this Air King 14010M from 2004. My only complaint has been the way the clasp sits on the underside of the wrist. Always off center... if i centered the watch then the clasp was off. If i centered the clasp then the watch was off. Now it's not. All proportionate. I'm very happy with the result. It had too many links on the 6 o'clock side. I saw no other remedy besides removing the permanent link. It had 5 but now it has 4. Not sure why Rolex did not have more removeable links on the 6 o'clock side of the older models. Thankfully the newer models do not have this problem. I'm seriously considering doing the same thing to my older Explorer 114270. How many of you have done the same thing?

.. so I think I can give you an opinion. You now have a pin that is not fully introduced and a bracelet that is not secure. You could lose your watch or it could fall off without warning. I would take it to a Rolex dealer or a capable watchmaker and have ...

Problem more than 20 years ago when I had TT Sub 16803. I couldn’t get it sitting comfortably on my wrist. The watch was always sitting uncomfortably on my wristbone. I was about having that procedure done by an independent watchmaker but then I ended up ...
