Vintage Daytonas have a special place in my horological heart. The first vintage Rolex that I bought was a 6239, with silver/pearl dial and black sub-dials. It was a watch in mint condition. When my wife saw it, she fell in love with it. My wife has never...

many watches do But i think what makes them special is their ability to bve worn on pretty much any occasion. I was reading a fascinating thread on how people decide on what to collect. Honestly, i really believe the watches choose.

but of course what do you expect when you are part of this community.... and your boss is constantly showing his... The problem is I want a vintage one now.... and I need to get one for my girlfriend so that she stops thinking about stealing it from me......  

Congratulations for your first catch for your wife and even more this second one, this amazing 6263! It's history makes this watch specially different! BRAVO!

exactly...the booklet would have Daytona on for a late 6263, no? I suspect I have another watch's booklet. The owner is adamant that my booklet did not get mixed up with another, so i suppose it is possible that Rolex just provided an older booklet with t... 

they used to give the first one that showed up when opening the drawer. I would not worry. Cheers Jeff

Dear Joe May I congratualte you on a really nice and awesome catch of a true PN legend. Looks like a wacth I have been serachibg for a while now :-(, you are one lucky person The 6263 (and its "twin", the 6265) were in production from 1970 until end of 19... 

All these vintage Daytonas are legends for sure, though this one not a PN...that would have been nice. But i hate to think the scarcity of a 6263 PN with punched papers and one prior owner. Ugggh. Agreed that the purchase in 1988 does not imply prodction ...

the booklet that was given to the first owner with my early 6265 was this one, featuring....a 6239 ! So you have the "correct" (although not original) booklet of my watch ;-)...

I know exactly where you are coming from. Nothing like a vintage Rolex Daytona and the 6263 carries itself well amongst these. Regards Rene...  

i am curious....how did the vintage Daytona impact you vis a vis your watch collecting? For me, I always had a passion for chronographs, and that was what got me looking at Daytonas. But it wasnt actually until i put a 6239 on my wrist that my attitude to... 

I had to smile when I read your post as my journey has been so similar. Started with a TAG but serious collecting happened when I stumbeled onto Panerai. Then got a Patek 5070 which triggered my love for chronos. Was never into Rolex as saw it as too comm... 

how sometimes there is something about a watch that can totally alter how we collect and view things. Like you, I started away from Rolex. JLC and Patek were my sins. Also 5070s ironically. And then it was actually a 6239 that moved me to the dark side. L... 

A classic Daytona, a modern steel Daytona, and a nice white gold Daytona thrown in. Thank you for sharing the beautiful picture of the Daytona movement. A great collection of Daytonas!
