Just noticed another difference. The large hash marks in the registers on the 116500 extend to the outer edges of the registers. Not so on 116520. [nt]

I am thrilled to admit I was mistaken. I adhered to the general (mis)conception that the black dials on 116500 and 116520 are exactly the same. Not true!

When the 116500 ceramic steel Daytona was introduced in 2016 I was thunderstruck by its beauty. For me it was the absolutely perfect modern sports Rolex and a very worthy heir to the 6263. However, one thing bothered me a lot. I thought, couldn’t Rolex ha...

It’s a nice watch. I like how it looks.

But other than a ceramic bezel they are selling the same product! Unless you got it at an AD it’s a complete rip off but that’s just my opinion as they are selling for double retail! Either way watch wise it’s really nice ethics wise Rolex doesn’t interes...

Glad you pulled the trigger my friend.

Both black and white are great and it’s very difficult to make a choice. My AD would only let me have one this year so a choice was made but I do feel a Black need no sorry want. Congratulations and enjoy your stunning modern Daytona. Best. Miles.

Can’t think of a better daily beater.

Black dial

What I have noticed is that often people prefer the black dial until they see the white and black ceramic side by side love in person. Once they see that, many who thought they definitely preferred the white end up preferring the black dial.

Apologies

What I meant to say is that, just like you, people who have not seen both in person initially think they will like the white better based on photos but end up liking the black as much or more. Has a typo on my first sentence before. this was also true for ...

Absolutely true!

I first bought the white dial because I thought it was more beautiful (too much black on the black dial version due to the ceramic bezel). Six months later, I also bought the black dial and I have to confess that I love it much more than the white dial. I...

Black Dial in Person better!

Absolutely--it is funny how common that story is--where people think they are going to like the white better based on the pics--but when they see it in person actually prefer the black.

Thanks Volker! Very interesting! From a small sample, it apparently is not uncommon to gravitate initially towards the white and then

wind up preferring the black. I bought the white first which was my strong preference. Some time after that an opportunity came up to buy the black. I bought it not sure how I would feel about it. I didn’t wear for a few months. But then one I put it on -...

Both versions are beautiful

I’m so jealous!

CAVEAT - I should add that in analyzing the 116520 black dial I mainly used the above 2006 116520. It is quite possible that

116520s from later years might share some properties of the 116500 black dial. Best, patekova

What you said in comparing both model are valid and true...
