How can a contractor ( Singer ) on their own accord make so many dials with different variations?
All of these dials were designed at Rolex by there dial team and sent to SINGER to proto type. Some of these dials did end up on watches in late 60's and early 70's. Not the dials recently founds the pictures I have added and the one from yourself but the watch sold by CHRISTIES ( YACHT MASTER ) was one of those. Paul Newman Dials, Monte Carlo Tudor dials were also from the same proto types but they were approved to go into production. Again it's not only my opinion but also a little research that has gone into it.
These "ghost" dials are simply awesome...

Sure they existed, apart a prototype life, and that it may be weird for a choronmeter AND a diving watch to not have these minutes track, but I must say that I love the clean look of this dial a lot. Anything to share about its story? Best, Nicolas.

I bought this from a dealer who paid less than a normal 1680 ( white dial ). Original owner had it from new.

I have seen this about 9 months ago or so? I think one was up for sale on one of the main websites, but I can't remember the exact time frame. Anyway, this is a totally rare bird (obviously) and very intriguing. Any real life wrist shots? Enjoy that watch...

All those dials came from a test (this is the right word to use about) "package" from Singer as never approved (and/or maybe never tested) by Rolex. Apart from the 1680 (which is a finished dial and probably another story) all the others seen in this topi...

But when people make claims as being the first and the earliest etc I find those claims a little empty. If you have one enjoy it for fun but it is not a premium item in an exclusive club. Best Bill
