If you told me I could only collect one brand, it would be Rolex. If you told me I could only wear one watch for the rest of my life, it would be my datejust.
If you actually consider a watch for its main purpose of telling the time and being reliable, I don't think there's any brand that has Rolex beat. Even if you put it up against a quartz or smart watch, those will lose to the Rolex in longevity and quality. Any high horology masterpiece will lose in toughness and reliability and, most likely, accuracy, not to mention the price.
That's what makes Rolex great: perfectly executed simplicity with a huge deal of care given to the wearing experience and reliability.
Satisfaction

I can sympathize with this.
I have it’s older brother (Kermit) which I rarely wear and the longer that goes the less likely I take it out day to day. The Hulk on the other hand has been a regularly worn watch from the beginning.

But how do you mean by aspirational? Do you mean‘how difficult to get’ (not financially)? In such case, why wouldn’t you consider PP or AP aspirational? Perhaps you do see those also as such, but not necessarily the same way as Rolex.

This seems pretty common, so I don’t think you’re alone in taking that route.
For me, it’s been the constant over 25 years or so. I’ve never sold a Rolex, interestingly, instead it’s just always been a situation of adding one every 3-5 years or so.
It is the most comfortable watches to wear
even though I have very small wrist, I just put on my 114060 or 126300 and go on with my day. The shallow me feel happy 😊

I completely agree with you. Rolex engineering is second to none, first and foremost. This is a quality that makes the watches so dependable. Then you have the aesthetic design. The models for the most part have he same DNA. A bit like the 911. And they
are for the most part good looking watches. The robust quality has enabled the most famous wear their watches, be it Bond, explores, mountaineers, divers or aviators. I think that is unique over a period of 80 years??
