Rolex

I went ice-skating yesterday...

...and brought the perfect Datejust to match with its icy-blue "Mosaic" dial. smile

Under the right light this dial just GLOWS.

In my opinion there is absolutely nothing in todays Rolex catalogue that can visually touch these old ”Mosaic" dials, there is SO much going on ...

I just had to buy this Datejust - yeah I know the case has been polished and is mediocre by itself but the condition of the dial is just so unbelievably nice.

Most blue dials of this era have some kind of oxidation or lacquer peeling around the indices but this is flawless...

Even along the edge of the ”Pie Pan" step on the dial the paint is still intact.

The creamy, yellow Tritium is the icing on the cake.

As far as I know these "Mosaic" dials were only made in quite small numbers between 1967-73, if some of you knows more about this dial variant please let me know. They seem to be more common on Ref. 1500/1501 than on 1601/1603 Datejusts, but I have no evidence to proof that.
