I agree there 1000 is not “rare” when compared to really small productions (think on companies like Akrivia), though in the big picture thinking about annual production per year (image Rolex), over time, 500-1000 becomes rare... it’s all relative [nt]

Rolex rarest

Hi all, I was wondering about rare modern (current catalog) Rolex watches... what do you think are the top 5 ones that they produce the least (which are also hard to find)? My list would be: 1. Daytona platinum 2. Sky dweller gold (not sure about the meta...

Given the short (2 years) production span

The white and black dialled 114300 OP 39 must be "relatively" rare

My guess

My guess is that the GMT Master II Meteorite dial is the rarest of all in the current production, rarer than the platinum Daytona. R

Honestly, I don't think any of your 5 would be considered "RARE"...

I would assume any of the gem-set pieces would be much more rare than a standard WG GMT meteorite or PT DD meteorite. So along the lines of several of the gem-set GMTs, Subs, Yachtmaster, etc...Sorry but I don't know the exact references off the top of my...

+1. One of the rarest I know is the Tudor 7924 for the Armada Republica Argentina ( ARA ). I know only 10 of them.

You can always try to find one for sale, it my take you a whole decade. Now that's what I call rare! ...

Maybe not like the Tudor of 10 pieces BUT there are some that are produced in VERY low quantities like the Rainbow Daytona, gem-set GMTs, Subs, YMs, etc...

These gem-set models are actually the ONLY modern Rolex models that are somewhat handmade, especially the fully gem-set models. I have discussed this with the ex number 3 at Rolex, he was the production manager for Rolex for over 20 years before retiring....

RARE is a relative word frérot. The 10 Tudors were made when Tudor was making THOUSANDS of watches. Now Rolex makes close to a MILLION watches per year so 100 of a MILLION is RARE in my eyes. I highly doubt there are even 100 Rainbow Daytonas per year...

Probably between 50 - 70 per year and even less of the FULLY gem-set pieces, meaning case, bracelet, etc...are fully gem-set I would even say that 100 or less out of a million is MORE RARE than 10 pieces out of tens of thousands per year, mathematically.

If I may share my opinion

Rare is rare, meaning whichever less means rarer. Regardless it is intentional special model or defect (collector induced/defined rarity) In this case since the question is regarding modern current catalog (i am assuming including anomaly as part of norma...
