This is as “no nonsense” as a Rolex will ever get. It makes a great pair with my modern Explorer 1. Both are 39 mm and according to my wrist, the perfect proportions.

I too have a 39 mm Explorer and have been thinking of adding a 39 mm white OP to make it a semi-matching pair.😉

I was never so fond of the OPs but when I saw this I became intrigued by the very simple expression. It’s not as legible as the very tool like Explorer 1 (I just love that watch so much) but it has a calm beauty. I imagine it would look even better with a...

I think the dials of the 34 and 36 are even more beautiful. I just personally prefer the 39 mm size more because I have a big wrist.

I just picked one up as well, and for the exact same reasons. It’s a great go anywhere, do anything, time-only piece that flies under the radar.

this one is reduced to the absolute basic rolex design cues. I suspect less is more in this case. I bet it will still be beautiful in 50 years.

Yes the dial is really handsome on closer inspection. Its easy to overlook from a few meters but thats a good quality as well

I suspect it has to do with the new size. The stron colors have certainly made quite a marketing impact. Lets see if the black and white will be back in a few years. I just jumped on it as i consider the 39mm PERFECT for me.

but predictions are dangerous in the watch world. I do think that it so presenting the fundamental designcodes of a Rolex watch in a very puristic way. That makes it really interesting.
