Hard to answer without knowing what the other piece might be.

One general rule I follow is I wouldn’t let a vintage watch in good condition go in order to fund a modern piece.  The implicit assumption there being the modern piece is more freely available and the vintage piece would be harder (and likely more expensive) to replace again.  This may make no sense to you, but that’s how I look at things.

dealt with a similar quandary. I would have needed to sell both my 1655 and 1665 to help fund a Zeitwerk Striking Time. I passed on it knowing that I will miss them, whereas the Zeitwerk will be much easier to procure down the road.

You can find many 5170s. Your 1680 is a beautiful vintage watch. I have not seen one in such great condition.
