Developing in the watch life
My walk of life, discovering and buying watches.
First, i own no Rolex.
I can afford a Rolex, so what i do is read myself into the subject.
Sure, i saw a Cellini and think most of the time, ok it’s a Rolex watch.
Looking at a submariner model. Aaa that’s better.
My fave is a green 116610LV.
Another model i watch often is an Explorer 2 with a white dial, and i want a gmt version.
Then there are Airkings, day dates, date just, daytonas etc.
We’ll see which one would be my first Rolex.

On the Cellini models, I truly appreciate the one with the moon phase. I just do not think it is « worth » the price point compared to other brands. So I’ll wait until the price goes down in the preowned market.

I think the pricing compared to other brands (at least for the basic Cellini line) is better but may be on the moon you have other options.

in terms of versatility nothing beats the submariner.
you can wear it any outfit, anytime anywhere. And always a great investment too

A submariner is my favorite Rolex. ...but, the others are fine. I do not forget the Millgaus, YM, and many more.

compared to steel models (when they were available). The watch is pretty much perfect and IMHO even better than many other more expensive classic dress watches.

There's a lot to like as Christianch states. The 39mm size wears perfectly, the weight is substantial enough so you always know there's a watch on your wrist, the finishing is Rolex quality and the dial details are subtle refined.

I fear that market's infatuation with Steel sports watches, and with power models, means that all brands are defined by 1 or 2 lines... and few are ready to venture outside of them (i'm guilty myself). Therefore Rolex somehow cornered itself with the succ...
