So, given R has now updated the Submariner line, all at once (unlike past years), as well as the OP line (with a more youthful spirit which has certainly rejuvenated its appeal), tweaked the Explorer 1 and 2 (the former an acquired taste at best, and the latter a bit underwhelming given its near complete lack of cosmetic change)... the two models which must now be ripe for a new moment in the sun are the Milgauss and AirKing.

Given that the Milgauss is the longer-toothed of the two, I hope it is updated with an eye to its origins, the 6541. This old model, with its rugged tool-ish monochromatic handsome design is could be the next version's blueprint for modernization, if the big R does not impose the maxi-case/maxi-hand/maxi-indices design language.  Imho these supersized aspects subtract from the balance of the new subs and GMTs due to off proportions which R has tried to subtly tweak but remain subptimal.

I think that the new OP41 line has successfully crossed the finish line in mild upsizing from the OP39 (the advertised numbers are deceiving, as the new OP might better be called the OP40, since case dimensions run between 39.5 and 40.5 diagonal depending on where the calipers traverse the case). Plus, the new OP41 indices, with single and double bars, also fill up the slightly bigger actual dial without crowding it. Anyhow, returning the Milgauss to arrowheads at the poles, keeping the lightning bolt seconds hand but making it match the color/material of new hands (yes, dauphine hands give the Milgauss a more elegant toolish-ness and would be wonderful -- I much prefer them to the current stick hands). So how about making the case the same as the new OP41 in size and dimensions? This keeps the antimagnetism using R's new materials, and with a *thin* ceramic bezel (labeled 0-6 as in the original or maybe 0-12 for a modern take).

And how about two versions, black dial and a white dial (both with same black ceramic bezel). I think these *subtle* updates which clearly look forward and backward might end up making a new Milgauss even more desirable than the current white/black dial Daytonas. But if the big R heeds my advice, R, please ensure one is earmarked for me to purchase! Chronographs are not my thing  ;-)   but this I would want...

That's not R's game however, that's why they own a brand for it! Thanks for sharing.

The Milgauss is one of the last great Rolex tool watches.

Would love to see The Crown reissue the Milgauss with the honeycomb pattern on the dial.
