You want to get all those pool chemicals out of the watch after swimming.
Chlorine has the possibility to chemically react with certain alloys in the metal, so don't be surprised if there's a slight patina.
Definitely get all the salt water out, as it can promote rust/corrosion even on stainless steel watches!
