I, too, have a love hate relationship with the fluted bezel.

Functions aside, i sometimes love the way it catches the light. Sometimes I feel it screams too much when I’m around town.

Rolex SkyDweller Steel Blue.

Here again, I hesitate between the Blue or the Black dialed version. Not at the point to get one, but I like it. The detail which bugs me is the fluted bezel... Even if I understand its functionality. Best, Nicolas ...
Please elaborate.

Curious to know how the bezel bugs you. Thanks. Is it the aesthetic? Or the function?
Thanks!

The fluted bezel is a signature feature
By: chintu : March 2nd, 2021-02:53
If I recall, Rolex used the fluted bezels for a purpose; Rolex states as follows; "THE FLUTED BEZEL Originally, the fluting of the Oyster bezel had a functional purpose: it served to screw the bezel onto the case helping to ensure the waterproofness of th...
I had an hesitation for getting a black dial...
By: Alfihar : March 1st, 2021-23:09
there is something special with this watch... A great mechanism. Something intelligent and new Something different for Rolex But it is like YM 2 thé is also something On the dial that is a problem for me. Something I don’t like. Maybe too loaded for me bu...
Exact.

White is beautiful, blue is superb, black for me!
By: Mary Anny : March 2nd, 2021-00:20
If you have the money and the wrist, I think that this is a must-have watch. Rolex's personal interpretation of a calendar, it's clever, unique, and very beautiful. Yes, it shines but for me the question is not why this particular one does it but why all ...
Sky-Dweller
By: George Gently : March 2nd, 2021-01:41
What attracted me most in this watch, was the combination of an annual calender, value for money and it's versatility. A watch you can wear always and everywhere. Being used to wearing a day-date (WG) the bezel doesn't bother me. Regarding the colour of t...
I hear you my friend.
By: Miles_151 : March 2nd, 2021-02:27
And I felt exactly the same and it took me a few years and the birth of the blue dial to convince me. I think you and I have similar taste and the bezel was wrong to begin with as it to me belonged on a Datejust in white gold and not on such a sporty comp...
I believe they are but they still bug me :-)
By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : March 2nd, 2021-09:32
In general I think Rolex hands are not has visible as they should be due to how they polish them compared to other brands. Except for the more sporty hands like in the submariners and the like, I find most of the "straight" hands from Rolex do not provide...
Black for me, I love it, but
By: Gwai : March 2nd, 2021-07:44
I think I've made that clear already elsewhere. Not my best but my latest shot to follow. Cheers Marc ...
This will be my next Rolex, of this I am sure....
By: nacelle : March 2nd, 2021-07:54
...what iteration however remains to be configured to my eye. I can deal with the bezel, it is part of what makes it work. if you will, perfect by any stretch, no. I really do not like the cyclops on this dial. It is already extremely busy, in a good way....
I would advise against that move. Have not
By: Gwai : March 2nd, 2021-08:23
seen any Sky-Dweller to which this has been done - which may say something in itself as I have seen lots of them - but if I let my imagination run wild, I can picture how mine would look de-cyclopsed and the best I can do is not burst into tears. Cheers M...

My story - to add some detail to my comment
By: Sportster : March 2nd, 2021-20:54
I was also considering this exact timepiece - kept going back to it. Such a cool watch, interesting design, especially when you start diving into the technical details. My comment about covering up the text was to share why I decided not to go for it when...
I loved this watch, but my wrist was a little small.
By: Wristenthusiast : March 2nd, 2021-21:09
In fact there are a couple watches, sky dweller being one of them, that I kind of still want even though it’s too big for me. The dial. The one thing I think that would make the dial cleaner is if the 24 hr register only showed numerals from say 11 o’cloc...
Thanks for the support.

I had tried it on years ago. It was the same blue dial but in white gold. In the end I walked away from it. But since then I bought a 40mm polar explorer 2, a 41mm Tudor black bay GMT, a 36mm explorer 1 and have a blue BB58 coming. All for less than the s...
