I owned a RM 005 Ti 2 years ago, it was my 'grail ' watch and was completely smitten with the design . I sacrificed some really nice pieces to get my RM and within 2 months it went wrong. Now, I am a reasonable man and having collected watches for over 10 years understand that things go wrong, however I couldn't shake the disappointment of spending so much on something that broke after 2 months of careful, almost babying wear. But what really annoyed me was after being returned to RM for repair I received the watch back with exactly the same problem . This did not occur some time later , it had the same problem the minute I put it on my wrist and once again had to go back . I found this unacceptable , I felt that I was supposed to be paying for the best and receiving something second rate , when I finally got it back after 6 months I sold it.
At the time I also viewed past posts and found complaints at alarming rates . Sure all other Brands at the Purists have posts with complaints about their watches or the Brand's quality control , but what didn't sit right with me was that fewer people own RMs than the other brands ( obviously ,because of price entry ) and therefore fewer people contribute to this forum , so I believed ( rightly or wrongly ) that there were a higher proportion of 'failures'. Unacceptable for such an expensive piece.
Of course this is my personal experience, I also continue to visit this forum weekly because I remain smitten with the design and philosophy behind the brand, but for now and certainly the near future my $$ will remain in my pocket or the pocket of a more reliable watch maker.
