My go to applications
What I use, in chronological order of use.
01) Canon DPP (Digital Photo Professional). It came with my Canon 30D when I got into digital photography. I still have that camera, and it still produces good images with a kit zoom EF-S lens. I still use DPP to process all my 5D Mk II and film images (scanned as TIFF files). It's basic, and the first version didn't have horizon straightening nor tilt-shift correction... so I picked up a copy of Elements...
02) Adobe Elements 6... at the time it was a nightmare to find an English language version... the local retailers (and Adobe) recommended purchasing it in the USA or Hong Kong... plus the English version was not supported here. Things have changed a little. Elements provided the two main missing features of DPP (since added to the application by Canon). I like elements for stitching so the software still lives.
Note: Both DPP and Elements are running on an old (offline) Win-XP (Final release: Service Pack 3 on April 21, 2008... 12 years ago). Not exactly leading edge, but it's paid for ; )
03) RAW File Converter Ex 3.0 powered by SilkyPix. It came with the Fujifilm x100t and is also available as a free download... which I did when I upgraded my Win7 laptop to a Dell Inspiron Win10 machine a couple of years ago. This application manages my Fuji X-Series files with no issues. The application uses terminology and approaches that are more technical than user oriented, but when you get a handle on what the developer had in mind, it's a piece of cake. All of my x100t files are run through this software, both RAW (which I seldom shoot) and JPGs.
Undated) IrfanView... I don't know how I ever lived without this software / shareware.
