am I correct that you were using off-camera flash? some type of pin-point artificial lighting... if yes, what were the details. I like the details... costume, skin-tone, OOF, etc. 2021 will be a good year based on the first shoot... Casey .

yes, artificial lighting was used... it was a panel of LED lights and not a flash

Number 2 is interesting as well. Number 3 is fine but if you wanted to correct some things, I'd do the lighting from the other side so you don't get hand shadows on the face, and the bottom hand is flexed, while holding up the elbow creating 'weird' finge... 

i was shooting handheld and reading your feedback about using a tripod makes a lot of sense and definitely was the case for me in focusing a lot on the face and eyes. will also watch out for hand shadow on the face in future photoshoots. thanks again!

your edit does make it look like a still from a movie. please pardon my ignorance... i suppose cropping to the right aspect ration plays a part?

Also the size of the image relative to the crop. For westerners they will read the image left to right and the opposite for those who read text the other direction. So if you are looking to tell a story as opposed to showing a composition. It’s a very sim...

noted on the need for sharper focus and testing with light. i guess i could also get sharper focus with image stabilisation, but my camera does not have this feature. i will keep practising for now and try to steady my hands more while i explore the use o...
