Controversial

To me its very controversial. On the one hand the artist is trying to make a statement and draw attention to some global issues. In itself nothing wrong with that, many artists have done since beginning of time.

Yet on the other hand, it’s a kind of message I would like to see in my own living room because I find it slightly depressing as well.

Undoubtedly it’s well painted and no amateur quality of work, but not something for my taste.

We do have quit some paintings both here and back home and we often visit boutiques. But it’s not often we see paintings with such dualistic emotions.

Don’t get me wrong, every painting is individual and what’s great to one is nothing to another. Hence it’s no judgement I’m passing, only sharing the emotions I felt when viewing the painting.

Looks like the terrain around Paradise California or any number of places in Southern California.

The artist is Joan Wadleigh Curren

She tackles some very tough topics. Most recently the effects of global warming on nature

I should clarify

Joan has always tackled the human assault on the natural world. I think that’s what elevates her work a a body in whole.
