5940G or 5235 Comments and Advice requested
I am number one on my AD's list for a 5235 regulator. Latest I have been told is that it should be april of may 2015. Yesterday I saw the "new" 5940G perpetual, and now I am also considering it. Pocket not deep enough to buy both, or I would. Obviously the perpetual is more expensive, but if money is not an issue, what would be the better buy? I have liked the regulator since it came out and have been on the list for well over a year. But I don't have a Patek perpetual (have 5117 calatrava and a 5146G annual calendar) and I find the 5940G particularly elegant and obviously different than the usual round perpetual, and have always thought that no collection is complete (not that they ever are) without a patek perpetual (I do have a UNardin GMT Perpetual that I love). Welcome thoughts and advice. Thanks!

Well,I really like the perp
By: 4Js : November 23rd, 2014-16:03
I find many more elements in the perp vs the regulator. I do really like the regulator dial look, but there is more to the perp from my perspective. The perp has no crushing of numbers, raised numerals, unique case, beautiful movement, and a 3/6/9 balance...
Hands down..

The 5940G would be a clear choice for me, I mean who doesn't love a perpetual calender :). I also love the 5940 as it is very similar to the 5020, which I want to add to my collection but it is a little out of my price range at the moment. Let us know wha...
5235!
By: carnegie : November 23rd, 2014-20:25
From collectibility point of view I would take 5235 for sure! This watch is unique in the Patek line and so is the movement. 5940 is beautiful but that same movement has been used for a VERY long time in all of their thin perpetuals starting with 3940 and...
5235....

.....there is nothing in the Patek stable that really looks like the 5235. It is one of the reasons I like it so much. I understand what you are saying about the 5940...... i have a massive penchant for the 3940.....so i do have a similar dilemma....for m...
5235 definitely

I would say if I were in your position, the 5235 would be the choice. You have waited a year for the watch, no harm waiting slightly longer. Remember, the longer you wait, the better it is, and the better you will appreciate it. Nobody likes an easy A. Ec...
5235 for sure and logical!

i also agree that the 5235 is the way to go and find your analysis on why totally correct. i have just one comment: IMHO the watch is not really rare. in the last months i have seen it in most ADs around the world and my home AD has one sitting there for ...
