Not rare and widely available
The 5970 is a grail for just about anyone and IMO the most beautiful modern watch. But I believe they made many. As a reference point, there are no less than 45 available for sale at the moment on a well known website. By way of comparison, there are 59 3...

With so many available on one website alone, 2000 may be a good estimate. And it sounds like quite a few people may have bought to sell. That's interesting. Is that typical for other/many modern, highly complicated Pateks?
And that well known website has many watches that are not actually for sale...
So I would never count on or trust those numbers...Just saying.

If a PCC
I would definitely go for a Patek for a PCC. Yes the 5970P if that was an alternative. If not Patek, first on the list of PCC would be the Lange Datograph PCC followed by the Vacheron Malte PCC. Good luck!
If not a Patek,
you should consider the Lange Datograph Perpetual. Nearly the ultimate in-house chrono movement, and such a beautiful and important watch.

I recall my conversation with a high ranking Patek member during the Basel fair, recommending the J because it will be the rarest of all metals for the 5970 made.
