Patek Philippe

I'm trying to decide on the next chronograph purchase. These 2 pieces are really superb and so similar; the black dials, 30 minute timer subdials, manual wind, beautiful movements, similar pricing. I am leaninbg towards datograph because of the added date... 

These are two marvellous watches and have a special place in each brands history and catalogue (by the way you're talking about the first Dato or the Up/Down one?) But, I would say they are very far from being "similar" (except they are chronographs). I'l... 

Is absolutely the way to go for me. Its the perfect size, weight, class, you can wear the dang thing anywhere with anything. Here are some photos of one I handled just last week. Although I don't feel bad for you if this is your most difficult decision at...  

5170G Pros : slimmer, clean pure dial, breguet numerals, best feeling for triggering/stop/reset, sits better on the wrist, nicer case Datograph : windows date, nicer movement finishing, BUT... Too thick/bulky, dial not as balanced as the original model, f... 

If now you were comparing the Dato first generation with the Patek, I would have said Lange! But to each his own, it is up to you to decide since you are the one to pay. ;) Best, Nicolas

but not because I appreciate Patek so much. The feeling of 5170 on the wrist is fantastic and the watch is really slim plus the case is of the right size. I think we will learn to appreciate the movement only later. But Lange is not bad either. Best, Kari... 

I'd get the 39mm Dato (have been tempted by it recently). Platinum case, gorgeous design, date, superior movement and display back, incredible feedback from winding stem and action on pushers and then to kill it off, great pricing on pre-owned 39 mm Datos... 

The 5170 looks boring. The Lange is simply gorgeous and you will never get tired of turning it over and looking at the movement. All this talk about the Lange cases being thick is true. However, it's a big plus in my eyes. As a result, the movement's have...

Patek - for the reasons already stated
