Wonderful pieces, dear cbb!
Although the Platinum version perhaps is more "quiet" (if you can say that at all with these wonderful pieces of art) I personally like the RG version more (although I generally prefer white metals) because of the matching date windows on the dial.
I am a big fan of MRs (and I am lucky to own one piece - not a PP). You are very lucky and - for me - in the "heaven of watch collections". So, as uncomfortbale as the incident described was for sure, the feeling of what "stresses" us in life is of course always relative. ;-)
I have learned in life that the feeling of gratitude for how well I am doing makes me very (very!) happy and satisfied and also quite immune to all kinds of "stress"...
