I think they were just overpriced at retail, or overproduced.
The retail price always seemed ambitious to me, even by Patek Phillipe standards. They can charge insane prices for the 5373P and it holds value okay because they don't make a lot of them, while they made a bunch of 5370s.

Very helpful point to highlight. I missed the effect of the straight lugs on 41mm case.
I’m more curious to try one on now, but that would probably be the deal killer for me.

It’s an incredible piece I can only agree but these straight lugs with such a large diameter case made it a no go for me. You have no idea how I regret it as I truly love this watch it ticks almost except one key box 🙈😭😭

Wish I would someday see/try on the black dial but I was very lucky to do so with the blue
And yes, the case shape is SPECIAL. The blue enamel was intoxicating and very deep. Electric! In the end I found the size to be a large end of what is acceptable for my wrist size and not likely to age well in blue. ...

The lowered subdials and more importantly, they are not sunken.. gives it a rather flat look
