Unfortunately there are examples of failures under persistent winding on winders
First of all the spring will be forced to persistently slip inside the barrel; yes, it's designed to do so but not at an excessive rate. Second the train feeding it including the reverser if changing direction and third the rotor around its arbour. All unrequired mileage and not least on the highly sliding Mudge escapement itself beating away to no avail.

I think the recommendation of Orbita is rigth. If it works one week with 800 turns, go to 700 turns, than 600 turns. When the watch stops you can find out how many turns is correct!
You have to find out the rigth number of turns, but always better less than more. My watchmaker say, this maschines destroy the movements if the make too many turns.

The response was essentially don’t worry about it, you can’t damage the watch by “over-winding”. I use the watch every other day and I think resetting it several times a week could be worse.
Why not follow the manufacturer suggestion?

That is all true! I put the watches in the winder, if i do it, with half spring after 24 hours resting. Not from the wrist directly to the winder.
The best is to wear a automatic watch on the wrist.

I have a b&z winder (best winders imo), most PP calibers are 650 turns counterclockwise. That’s what I use for my 5396. I also have it on sleep from 22:00 to 8:00 the following day, done it for years and never had any problems. Best

Cant have seperate modules rumming per winder and not linked. Do tbey have a delayed start yet? If iI wear a watch and then out in winder its nice if it starts say 8 hours later

I understood even with a unidirectional piece
you are best to have the winder Work bidirectional to simulate wrist wear- also set the sleep time to the max to simulate overnight and no wear. Anyone agree with this?
There is certainly an air confidence from Patek that the number of turns do not matter but they did say to me counterclockwise.
I wonder what the new PP winder for one of their PC runs at; I don't have one. I am going to go with the minimum number of turns that keeps the watch going, I am not bothered about the accuracy too much but I am worried about the clutch.

Patek 5146 (with the 324 movement) should be wound 650-800 times per day counterclockwise!
