I think the difference here is measuring an engine in revolutions per minute versus beats per hour. A modern watch runs at 240 rpm or 8 bps. No car engine even idles at that. If a car could idle at 240 it could run for years and years. Not to mention at such a low idle the forces are still much greater than in a watch.
