I don’t think 5270 gets enough “street cred.” And I get it. It’s hard to follow a 5970. But this is a great reference in its own right. I particularly love the “chin” models. And the P salmon for me is just so interesting. Thanks for sharing these. Well d... 

I also think it's a very interesting reference, worth digging into! I personally like the first variant quite a bit.

They will be a useful resource for people researching in advance of a purchase. In this particular post I particularly like the original 5270G. The absence of the tachymeter makes it wonderfully clean. But I would be very happy with any of them. All the b...

I also like the absence of the tachymeter scale on the current P version. However, the green is a bit too special for me

this first G is really beautiful. And the green isn't for me either.

And fully agree on the green dial (and gem-set versions, for that matter), a bit too peculiar (as I don't like to use the word gaudy in the context of Patek).

A big fan of those 3 on white metal with tachymeter scale. The 5270P-014 is quite tempting too.

But I think I like the first version even better, even if judging from photos only has limited meaning as the real life experience could be very different. Thanks for looking.

As far as I can tell from photos only (I’ve seen none in real life), I think I like the first version the most: it looks understated and beautiful to me. Here’s another photo of the T. ...  

I think the salmon with Arabics here. But ask me tomorrow and I'd pick another...

"On paper", the very first iteration has my preference, but who knows how I would feel in real life?

Dial color and hour index in a Platinum case made it extra special topping with a tachymetre scale which should be present at all times for a chronograph.

I think every version of the 5270 is a winner. I get why some people dont like the chin version, it is a little.... different. For me the 1st version of either the G or P are the big winners. 5270g-001 - beautiful, clean, versatile dial, markers, handset ... 

The 5270g-001 is the only reference in the entire lineage to have a) vertical brushed dial like the advanced research watches b) vertical line counters vs the railroad counters

I couldn’t agree more with what you say. The G-001 is the winner for me, at least on photos. In real life, I couldn’t tell, unfortunately. Best.

I feel this watch is too empty without the tachymeter scale

I’m personally not fond of the “so-very-short” markers at 3 and 9 nor of the pyramid markers at 4, 5, 7 and 8. Moreover, I like the purity/vacuity of the first version. Thanks for your comment.

For me, I wish they can integrate the day-nite and leap year indicators into the running seconds and chrono minute subdials. The current design is just too bottom heavy, specially since the subdials are below the 3-9 axis m. I also just noticed something ... 

in the Monochrome review from which this screenshot is taken. PS: I call it a flaw, but it’s probably a deliberate aesthetic choice as 7 sub seconds markers would look crowded. ...  

then it would still make sense.. Like how the 1815 rattrapante uses 3 intervals (6 would be crowded), as it’s a 3Hz watch.

And a chrono without a scale is a bit strange. But I like the clean aesthetic of this first iteration.
