There is no problem about talking about Quartz watches Sam :)
Thinking about its place is interesting but i think that it will depend on what each of us is looking for in that field.
Quartz brings accuracy (so does any electronic device), reliability against shocks, and usually allows thinness in an easier way.
I would see the Quartz as something that doesn't bother someone who is mostly looking at the aesthetical side of a watch.
For someone who is interested in the mechanics, engineering, hence all these mechanical movement as an important part of our passion, the Quartz is a totally other field.
When we talk about the watches we like or review, it is most often on such forum considering the movement as well, not only the aesthetics.
Just a question of what we focus on.

PP's quartz movements are not exactly "cheap". And wasn't PP on the forefront of quartz development, when it came into fashion?
