the car analogy is right....
If you take a Ford into service, its cheap. take a F430 in, and it isn't. I think the PP service costs reflect the complexity of the work, the craftmanship of the service and the quality of the piece to start with.
I remember a great story about a plumber. A neighbour called a plumber out because of a knocking in his attic water pipes. Thh plumber came and then after about 5 minutes took out his hammer and gave a small knock with the hammer at a specific point in the pipes. Suddenly, the knocking noise stopped. The plumber said..."That will be £70". The neighbour was outraged, saying that it had only taken him 5 minutes. The plumber replied that it had actually taken himn about 20 years of experience to know where to hit the hammer!

My brother suspected the winding mechanism of his 5065 is not working properly with some unexpected noise, which watch was repaired by PP service centre in years ago due to manufacturer's problem and no other service at all sicne then. So my brother hande...
IT is very possible ...

... base on the current condition of your patek 5065/1A and due to your warranty ( possibily ) being expired, in order to repair your watch, an overhaul maybe required. I would guess a rough figure of little short of us$ 2K ?? IT is similar to driving you...
It actually not broken

Everything is absolutely fine but when the crown is turned clockwise or anticlockwise, it feels not smooth as Patek do. That is the case. Anyway, PP 5065 equipped with a 324SC should not be classified as any Complication II in any sense. Should the servic...
Yes. I was lucky!

Unlike many here, I am not a watch collector. In fact, I don't collect much "stuff" at all. But I really do like to have nice stuff, if I'm going to have any stuff at all. (Or if it's going to be cheezy stuff, it ought to have high sentimental value.) It ...
Sounds normal, or fishy!

standard routine service. I presume this is just the oiling of the parts and the checking/repair of minor problems i.e, hairspring tauntness/accuracy. From what i hear you say, your brother's watch (now yours), is NOT a standard service. This is because t...
I don't understand your point.

Hi, As already answered above your brother certainly received a quotation of the work to be done before allowing it. Then I suppose the invoice was identical to the quotation. Maintenance costs indicated on the PP website are just bases for the service of...

I just learnt from my brother in a family gathering on this issue. He is not a watch guy but loved this sporty watch. He was shocked with the quotation but accepted last week, whicj is all the information I know yet. I will ask him to have the quotation p...
they have to charge more
By: nice2guy : August 11th, 2009-06:07
If the service center charged everybody what they say a routine service charge is, I believe they would lose money (or certainly not make anything). Some of the experts here would know how many hours it takes to take apart one of these watches, clean, oil...
