When the 5130 was released even though the size looked more modern, personally I did not like the hours hand, it was always preventing me from liking this watch (and still)
I believe that the dial as well as the hours hand on the “new” 5230 are nicer.
As for the case, both are nice and each has its own character, I think they are not comparable.
Final thought I pulled the trigger on the 5230R. So this is my vote.

in this case... the 5230 wins
i prefer the 5230 over the 5130 because of the guilloche finishing & the case (size & shape). but if the 5110 was put into the comparison=5110 > 5230 > 5130 the guilloche, case size, shape & proportion are just perfect IMHO cheers
