Thank you Mark

I think that this forum is the most congenial and helpful that I have participated, and a significant part of that is the insights and moderation that you yourself provide.

I think most members are genuinely supportive and respectful of one another. While opinions often differ, rarely have I seen passions triumph over civility; a tribute to both this forum's members and its moderators.

Recent comments by your co-moderator in this thread and on another recent one (wherein a member asked for opinions regarding the size of a watch) left me the impression that only objective or favorable input was welcomed. Many times objectivity is appropriate, as when a member asks a more technical question, however a significant number of posts cannot be answered simply by referencing data. Qualifying every single response with "in my opinion" might be preferable but is often cumbersome when constructing a quick reply. I also think it's unnecessary as most on this forum can readily separate fact from opinion (in my opinion, of course!).

I really enjoy the wit and "personality" of this forum. Rarely have I seen it cross the line and when it does it's appropriately censured. Nothing in this thread seemed even remotely inappropriate to me, and I was genuinely puzzled by Mr Red's response calling for censure. Ordinarily I would simply ignore, but as I mentioned in my post, he is a moderator and as such his comments deserve proper deference. Sadly I feel his approach will leave this forum rather sterile, but rather than debate the issue in open forum I chose simply to move on.

Glad that you understood my attempt at humour, as I was only trying to add levity to the situation. Certainly my comments were not meant to inflame or insult anyone's choice of a watch to wear at the wedding. On the contrary, I was poking fun. Perhaps not all share my sense of frivolity.

I have the highest respect for the way you conduct yourself and this forum. It's honestly what makes this forum exceptional.

Best Regards,
Sam
