The silver dial is indeed vertically brushed, and I believe that this is the only version with black hands and indices (but I might be wrong here).
Between this and the "P" version, in my opinion the "G" is more versatile, less the flavour du jour and flies more under the radar. Plus the price difference is substantial, but at this elevated price level, that should not necessarily be the decisive factor. Finally, I can understand why some would prefer the heft of the platinum (though the G isn't exactly a lightweight on the wrist either
