I'm drawn to this reference, too, but was puzzled by the attraction, as it doesn't really correspond to my usual preference for simple, modern design. You've helped me see that it is the proportions and layout of the dial and the lines of the case to which I'm responding, as well as the superb fit on the wrist.
I hope you'll share similar posts about other pieces you've selected.

The dial on this one is perfect and maintains the symmetry and proportion that the 3940 did so well. The varying sized numbers on the 5140 ruined it for me. If I buy another perpetual it will have to be this one. Looks fantastic in the white gold!

...the toughest part would be which metal to choose. It would be nice to see black hands, or even blued, for some of the subdials. Either way, love the case and the numerals. A classic beauty. m
