The welcoming is much appreciated. Too early in my career to have much of a collection. While this beauty will likely always be out of reach, I am certainly drawn to simple appearing pieces that possess a distinct complexity nonetheless.

Welcome! 1526 is a bit of an enigma to me. It is beautiful. It is the first perpetual calendar watch ever made in series by any company,
Only 210 examples and it is in a classic Calatrava case. Despite all this, it is available in YG for much less money than one would think it would cost. Don't know why. Maybe because it is "only" 34 mm, or maybe because so few mint ones come up at auction...
34mm was considered very large during that era.
Modern large sizes are really irrelevant to the great collectibles of the past. Can always make more bigger watches but the past is history.
Exactly right which is why I would be happy to own one. And it is why I wrote "only" 34mm in quotation marks.
I believe there is a differentiation in prices of vintage Pateks based on size. Ref 96 was the standard size of 31mm. Ref 570 at 35 mm all things equal sells for substantially more. Same for vintage WTs, chronos, etc. So while 34mm sounds great I believe ...
