Ok, haters gonna hate.
It's not for me. Take off the Patek branding and to me it would have absolutely zero appeal, especially at the price.
I appreciate that I seem to be in the minority, as the aquanaut certainly has its loyal following. It's rubber strap and tire track dial aren't at all what I envision when I think Patek. The stainless case is said to be scratch prone, and the Arabic numerals and hands seem more suited for a watch not even one tenth the price. I want to like it, I really do, I just can't. Maybe my tastes simply haven't sufficiently matured...
I apologize if my candor is offsetting, but I took the OP's question on it's face, otherwise I'd simply refrain from the love fest.
To all the Aquanaut haters...
How can you not think this watch is beautiful? The sheer simplicity and versatility of the piece should garner at least some respect. Am I wrong?...

I had one and really liked it but I replaced the rubber strap into a black leather croc. ok, I hate rubber straps so there might have been a little thing I hated about it ;-)

Nobody "hates" Aquanauts...
At least I hope not. How could anyone dislike such a wonderful watch so much? The Aquanaut is a wonderful watch, it's just not as well appreciated as it should be, and the Nautilus is often more highly favored.

Maybe not "haters," but...
I do feel as though some don't consider the watch a "true Patek" for whatever reason....maybe I'm just sensitive because I love the piece so much.

I never thought of that. What a huge plus! The bracelet on my AP15300 is all scratched up.

and I even like the design and looks of the watch better than the famous Nautilus. GEO
Hate's a strong word.
And I certainly don't use it when it comes to describing that watch. I think it's quite a timeless piece, and even more so on a nice crocodile strap.

I think they will keep the 40mm models

Price point is a serious put off
At the same price point, you can always get better value / features in other brands. However you never buy a Patek for those reasons ! Hence will always remain an individual thing !
