I have experience working on Rolex, but this is only my 2nd Patek. It's a 23-300 and, wouldn't you know it, right off the bat, I'm foiled by this broken dial screw (the head is missing and only the threaded portion of the screw remains in the plate): Sinc...  

Take a piece of steel wire that is the same diameter as the hole for the screw. Turn the end down in the lathe till it is about 3/4 the size of threaded part remaining. And dress the tip with even cuts so it is jagged. (gives the wire a little bite, to gr... 

…I ended up removing a coupla bridges and pressing the dial foot out from the front of the plate: I'll have to sort out the remaining bit o' screw that's still lodged in the plate, but, at least, now I can repair the watch's original problem and complete ...  

…modifying an extra screwdriver similar to the way you suggested and, then, I was able to back the screw piece out: So, case solved. Thank you! ...
