My Personal top 3 dream Patek’s
What are your top 3 all-time most desirable Pateks?
Criteria is pretty simple, it has to be a series production watch or a limited edition that was made in at least 100 pieces. It cant be unique one off pieces, but can be a unique dial variation of a standard production piece.
Here are my three:
The ref.2499 Perpetual Calendar with chronograph
Launched in 1950, it was in continuous production till 1985. Yet despite this time, only 349 pieces were made in four series. The first series saw two variations in cases, one made by Vichet with a diameter of 36.2mm. This was superseded by Wenger case with a diameter of 37.8mm.The second series saw the introduction of round pushers and a 37mm case.
Whatever the series, it is in my opinion just perfect and a dream watch.
The ref. 3974 Perpetual minute repeater
Launched in October 2014, for 175th anniversary celebrations, it is a unique complication, combing a large moonphase display and world time. Made in 1300 pieces, it was “relatively” obtainable. Certainly out of my three, it’s the one that is most accessible. It’s an intoxicating mixture of horological complication and one the most exquisite cases ever made. The shaped asymmetric lugs are delightful. The whole combination is perhaps for me the most beautiful and innovative modern Pateks ever made.
