My Personal top 3 dream Patek’s

What are your top 3 all-time most desirable Pateks?

Criteria is pretty simple, it has to be a series production watch or a limited edition that was made in at least 100 pieces. It cant be unique one off pieces, but can be a unique dial variation of a standard production piece.

Here are my three:

The ref.2499 Perpetual Calendar with chronograph

Launched in 1950, it was in continuous production till 1985. Yet despite this time, only 349 pieces were made in four series. The first series saw two variations in cases, one made by Vichet with a diameter of 36.2mm. This was superseded by Wenger case with a diameter of 37.8mm.The second series saw the introduction of round pushers and a 37mm case.

Whatever the series, it is in my opinion just perfect and a dream watch.

The ref. 3974 Perpetual minute repeater

Launched in 1989 as part of the 150^th anniversary the ref.3974 was finally retired in 2000. Aesthetically similar to the 2499, its beautiful. The case was 36mm diameter and depth of just 12mm. The case was designed and made by one Pateks finest case makers Jean Pierre Hagmann. Its sensual, and a masterpiece of horological complications, If only …….one in platinum please

The ref.5575G World time moonphase

Launched in October 2014, for 175^th anniversary celebrations, it is a unique complication, combing a large moonphase display and world time. Made in 1300 pieces, it was “relatively” obtainable. Certainly out of my three, it’s the one that is most accessible. It’s an intoxicating mixture of horological complication and one the most exquisite cases ever made. The shaped asymmetric lugs are delightful. The whole combination is perhaps for me the most beautiful and innovative modern Pateks ever made.

I would have included the 5029 but only 30 were produced so instead I have included the 3939, the 5959 and the 5531 the 3939R minute repeater tourbillon the 5959P ultra thin split second chronograph the 5531R - minute repeater world timer ...

2499 I was going to say of course But for my #2 choice I would vote for the 5370 P and for #3 I would go for 5970 P Needless to say that my Wonder Watch (ref 3448) is also in my dream list but I don't need to count it since I already have one, hehehe ! so...

The ones that appeal to me the most are

1463, 2438/1, 565 sector center seconds [nt]

Patek 2499

Breathtaking beautiful, the dream [nt]
