I have to agree...
although Patek have not really innovated for years, if not decades. I guess a brand that has something to prove pushes the boundaries of innovation, but Patek’s following is so strong that if a new metal or dial colour is released, it’s big news!
I hope Patek don’t continue on this course, brands like A Lange & Sohne are attracting over some of their loyal clients and that will only snowball if supported by auction prices and better marketing.
Saying that, the 5531R is a sublime timepiece, it has plenty of innovation, but wasn’t a new release per se nor priced within the reach of most. The 5270P is a showstopper too and begins to close a very important chapter in Patek’s PCC history, but nothing we didn’t already expect. The 5740/1G, I for one don’t feel it represents fine horology so won’t comment much about it.

There’s a true Patek cult (same for Rolex) and they have orders for years so they don’t need to deeply modify their strategy and supply. Evolution rather than revolution. Best wishes Alkiro

Yes ALS is a good example for what Patek should be doing
Seems like ALS has updated the movements in their lower end pieces. Features like hacking seconds, second reset to zero, etc. ALS is driving for more while Patek seems content to mostly rest on their laurels.

PP does innovate but they cannot scale it?
Just consider the 5235G with its Spiromax balance spring and Pulsomax escapement. But I was indeed surprised that still did not introduce anything new with these components. I guess they still have scalability issues regarding their production.

Patek does not need to innovate or do anything for that matter. Besides the 240q they stick to the 215ps in spite of the fact it is way too small for all the watches it is in and is a 1960s technology with a short PR and no hacking.
Very true. I wish there would be a day that they come up with a more e modern Calatrava (as I love time only, non sport watches).
