Patek Philippe

Hi, read some rumors of what is to come from PP this week. By no means verified or necessarily complete but thought I would post here for those interested. My personal take summarized below, but please feel free to comment. I hope this post is not conside...

I have pictures but won't post them to save Oliver some time :-) There is still an embargo … 5131 G and J are discontinued, R and maybe later P were expected The 5224 is really strange … so NOT-Patek …. but I like the fact that they offer a new pilot spor... 

5224G… I am baffled. But again, I like the idea behind the line and hopefully it looks much better in the flesh!

That are not shown here. There are 2 new 5270's with the chin gone. Two are WG ones and one is the new RG one. So yes these are the new releases like them or not. I can say I am excited to see the 5131R and will look forward to getting one! Cheers,

Most of the new Pateks were just like warming the same meal for the third or fourth time. The pilot's watch is simply terrible! I'm more and more convinced that the Brand is sliding down and fast. Very fast. But I have still one reservation: perhaps someb... 

What's next? PP "discovering" their diving heritage? Their affilation with motorcar racing? Special editions named after famous/forgotten racetracks? PP on the moon? Astronaut's limited edition? And why not go the Monblanc pen way? First, a range of watch... 

It takes a long time, always decades and sometimes longer, the built the brand image. And everything can be ruined very quickly. Looking at the last moves of the Brand including the price adjustments, I have a feeling that they are very lost. If the "engi... 

Just look at how Jaguar and Bentley have tweaked the XK and Conti GT and never got it right - a bit more chrome here, revised headlights, special editions... Looking at the new PP models I am really stuggling to see how their future will look like...

Primus Inter Pares. Just one of the high end brands. But being one of many, the insane pricing will not anymore be justified. My crystal ball says that Patek will have difficulties to sell their production, we will see more and more PP in the grey market ... 

the current Patek Philippe collection. All the "rumors/facts" posted are still under embargo. Some people already started to "burn down the house" after geeting some "forbidden sights" ... I am not sure what to think about, to say the least. But I know th... 

I don't think there is a reason to judge Patek too strong and implicitely.

PP has posted the 2105 new models on their website. They were up last week.. What will be fun to see in real photos are this years hand finished dials on the 5296 case style watches. I agree on the brown dial on the 5711r being a poor combination. The 514...

Not sure if I am the only one feeling this way. But the Patek Ref 5524 looks very much like a Zenith Pilot , I must say ! Good or Bad ? Will it be popular with PP collectors, I wonder.

5131R is needed to complete the set of different metals 5131P IMO will consist of a top down view of the world from the North Pole - make sense ?

World view from top sounds interesting conceptually, but would be a lot of tundra and ice. Hope they come up with something special and creative but my bet would be (possibly a slightly modified yet) the world view from J will be used on the P. Something ...  

Gallery of 5131 R pictures... They are featuring a white metal one... When I was pretty sure Patek announced the 5131G to be discontinued. So, I was wondering, for a moment, if there was not a P somewhere, till I saw that La Paz was not mentioned on the d... 

You would have another alternative for an enamel piece, assuming that you would like the map on this potential reference!! :-)

I would imagine this type of map, which is similar to VC and other brands (UN, etc.) that have also used the top down view What do you think? Somehow my gut tells me the 5131P has to be this map !! Cheers, Gordon [ amateur dial designer hoping Patek will ...  

Would be great to see some variety. Somehow still think they will go with the J view for the P though… conservative approach seem to be their game. But if the stars align and they hire you to design dials, anything is possible. I hope they discover you so... 

Each of the 5131 has a different map and P is going be no different [ pun intended :-) ]. Trust me on this one please. However, I will unlikely be discovered by Patek during my life time, and so I need to take my watch design destiny in my own hands and w...
