I always found the 5522 lovely in its charm and simplicity, it's a Calatrava whose success has been (and still is, three years later) really remarkable! Thanks for sharing these nice portraits.

... except for 5212A, 6007A and all other special edition steel Calatravas and those vintage steel Calatravas.

And as is too often the case, the best watch is a “limited edition”, unobtainable for the regular collector.
The 5522 is definitely attractive and highly sought after due to its clean dial and limited production !
To me, an equal or a runner-up would be the 6007 with its light blue color and "checkered" pattern on the dial. Overall, a very close call !

It’s funny how initially I was on the haunt for more complicated pieces, then years later one realizes that all one needs a simple timepiece that has that internal beauty that Patek knows and provides to collectors year after year.
According to Patek
history, Calatrava refers to a round simple timepiece inspired by Bauhaus design where form follows function. 5522 does correspond well to this description. It is however a modern Calatrava and differs from original 96. There should always be progression....
this is one of my favorite watches!
Looks very simple but it has great presence on the wrist and practical. A winner for sure!
