I saw it at the Patek Philippe exhibition in NYC. It kind of took me by surprise at first and I didn’t know what to think of it. Now I am very taken with it. One of the big selling Points for me is that it’s easy to read! I almost wish it was a manual -wind piece.
It’s funny how initially I was on the haunt for more complicated pieces, then years later one realizes that all one needs a simple timepiece that has that internal beauty that Patek knows and provides to collectors year after year.
history, Calatrava refers to a round simple timepiece inspired by Bauhaus design where form follows function. 5522 does correspond well to this description. It is however a modern Calatrava and differs from original 96. There should always be progression.
