Great photos of a lovely watch!
I saw the 5170G for the first time in 2013 at the Patek show in Munich on the wrist of my dinner table neighbour. Fortunately, I had the chance to try it on and immediately fell in love. It took me one year until I could call this watch my own and ever since I have never regretted the purchase despite a lot of bashing from fellow collectors.
A comparison with the 5070 is difficult or even impossible imho as these models are chronographs with completely different concepts.
A favorite of mine :the 5170 G.

I think true Patek collectors went for the 5070's and the 5170 was looked over during the Nautilus craze.

Gorgeous chronograph
The 5710G has always been one of my favourite in terms of look and wearability. The variant you own and the black dial variant are my favourite offerings from Patek alongside the 5170P!
Not forgotten...just not as popular...
...I think because no leaf hands and the Pulsation scale, which is fairly anachronistic these days (although some would like it just because of that)... I would buy a 5170J if it had leaf hands, scale or not, but no such thing exists and I'm not Eric Clap...

The 5170 with it's purity and nice proportions is a stunning watch. I much prefer this reference over the 5070 and wear it with pride and joy. Beside my Datograph the best modern chrono out there ...

I want to also try it on an olive one. Maybe a darker blue and a burgundy, as well. There’s just a ton of versatility here that allows the personality of the watch come out in a way that it doesn’t on the stock strap, in my opinion.

5170G-001 is a very beautiful watch.
Unfortunately this watch was not well received by the collectors and I have seen they are still available at ADs.

The 5170G should be far more popular than it is, particularly since it can be worn with jeans. If it was cased in steel, the demand would be aggressive.
