Further to the point about Tiffany's being Mass Market like Zales -

Well, to me, at present the Tiffany's name has less panache than in years past. Now, Tiffany's is peddling its silver jewelery by the shipping container. They have lowered their "Standards" I think and have build more sustainability into their brand - but being located in shopping malls throughout the country doesnt add class to me.

I personally feel that if there was some thought put into the placement of the Tiffany & Co on the dial or, if there were unique dials for Tiffany retailed watches that would be ok - but I agree with most posters - that just cluttering the dial with a Tiffany stamp does nothing for the aesthetic and inherent simplicity that is Patek.

I dont know if I would pay more for Tiffany on the dial. Probably not - In fact, I'd probably ask Patek to change the dial if possible.

Does anyone know if you can request Non-Tiffany dials from Tiffanys?

Insofar as ambivalence is the state of having simultaneous conflicting feelings, it seems a good way to describe it. I personally dislike it on modern watches since it adds clutter and my primary "brand value" comes from the watch rather than the retailer...

I almost hate it I never understood why some people would pay more for a watch which has the name of a retailer on the dial. And I wonder if that hype will last forever

i prefer simplicity - without the tiffany on the dial. one reason that i like patek watches is the fact that they are simple - even when "complicated." if i am going to have something additional on my dial, i'd prefer it be functional (date, small seconds...

Yes you can request that Tiffany is not on the dial. But if it is already there they are unlikely to replace a dial. Where on the dial the "Tiffany" is placed is determined by Patek. Which watches are Stamped with the Tiffany name is mostly determined by ...

3923. On that watch, the placement and the size of the lettering is not disruptive to its appearance, but I would rather it not be there if I had a choice. There just seems so much fuss about dials and the value demanded for some pieces ... simply amazing...
