Wearing a watch as prestigious as a Patek, you would want a loud emblem to complement it. The Calatrava cross does it very well.
If this is the deployant you are referring to, I feel it is a little muted.

I spent a "fortune" on them in the past, but today I prefer a buckle most of the time. Not only because of the understatement. At the end it is just a matter of taste and habit. Oliver
I put all my watches on a pin buckle,
even the 5070 or the Daytona 116518, for both safety and comfort reasons. It is much more comfortable for smaller wrists. Original pin buckles do not come cheap, though... Cheers, R

There is a newer style deployant that features a Stern buckle rather than the Calatrava cross within a circle. It's really much more discreet in appearance.

The ADs that I visited only have the cross style deployant on their watches. My 5146 is 3 month old and it came with the Calatrava Cross deployant.
