I have recently aquired a 5712 1A two weeks ago. I was offered the watch from my dealer because of my past purchases. The watch was in the A/D 's safe and never saw a display case. The "good" dealers will weed out the collectors and give them first crack at the "hot" watches. I received a call from my dealer asking me if I would be interested in the watch. I in fact posted here to get the word on the street about the watch. I have no intentions of selling this piece, but I could turn it around for 15% profit. I am wearing it and enjoying the watch as it was meant to be. Like everything else in this world, a good relationship goes a long way. Go and see your dealer and drop in to see the same salesperson on every visit. I have been collecting for years. My first watch was a SS and yellow gold Rolex date just with a champagne dial. My dealer and I still cringe and chuckle over that purchase. The dealer is the filter for these pieces and they should conduct the due dilligence that is required.

I am posting a question to fellow purists... How is it that gray market dealers have several SS 5712, 5980 available in the net for sale, yet AD don't have them, and the PP Geneva boutique won't take any orders since they have maxed out their 5 year produ...

The grey market dealers source the Nautilus (and other highly sought-after watches) from BOTH AD customers and AD directly.... AD is less willing to sell these watches to the grey dealers DIRECTLY these days as there may be "consequences" from PP about th...

Funny. I have been offered a 5712 Rose Gold from my regular AD whom I have bought several watches from. The price he listed was SGD$10K above list price. I tried to negotiate to no avail . He refused to budge as that is the 'market price'. This is coming ...

I learned a lot from your various experiences/points of view. Based on your postings, I can see why Henri Stern needs to be vigilant to weed out the bad players, and like Sam said, allow the true AD to do the due diligence as to how to sell the pieces to ...

to believe that Stern does not know of the corruption of AD's, and in his own way colludes with them and the gray dealers by not punishing anyone... I know that one AD who was reported for spiking prices was called yet nothing was done... With that said, ...
