Choosing the right Nautilus
Sep 27, 2015,08:56 AM
The Nautilus is very high on my wishlist. I think it might even be my next watch. But the biggest 'problem' on getting a Nautilus is choosing just one. ;-)
The variation of styles in the Nautilus line is fascinating. You can wear a Nautilus everyday of your life on every occasion, it's just a matter of choosing the right one for the right occasion.
Best to keep in mind that a 5980 is a 'bigger' watch and a 5711 or 5712 is one more suited to be an allrounder. Then there is also the choice of good old stainless steel vs the more noble and formal (leather strap) gold versions.
I'm not sure for which one I am eventually going for. I like most of them but currently the 5711, 5712a (g or r) or 5980A are all very close.
In a nutshell; to me 5711 is perfect. 5712a best allrounder. 5712g very beautiful but maybe slightly too formal for a sportswatch. 5980 perfect but more sporty than the others. (also quite big)
To make a decision my suggestion would be to go out and try to get a photo of all of the references you are most interested in. Don't forget to try them all on and take pictures of it on your own wrist if you have the opportunity. Really, for choosing one it's important to have seen it on your own wrist.
Then look at your personal style, what you already have in your collection and choose the one that suits you best. Make the decision when you tried them all. It's not easy to do this quick, because there is probably no shop in the world who has them all in stock. Nowadays with the cameras in the phone this would be just a matter of time and when you finished this task and then you can just dream away on all these beautiful pics and make the perfect decision for you.
Best of luck for choosing one!
Best,
H
