But looking at the amount of pictures you took for one vs the other,
It is clear you prefer the 5146. I think you cant go wrong with either of them. As for me, I have seen many 5146 to say that they are very balance and have a classic layout so they are not as striking to me as I first saw them. People tend to compare 5146 with 5035, the latter having the reputation of the first AC produced.
I quite like the 5205. For one simple reason. Reading the calendar is fast. Just stare at the top windows, read from left to right and you get them in a Day/Date/Month format.
For instance Sat 18 Mar. Very direct.
As for the 5146, it's a tiny weeny bit slower. That's when the minute hand runs over the month dial and blocks the needle.
That's just my 2 cents opinion.

it is the most common AC (if there is such a thing?) but it has the Patek DNA through and
through and i kept coming back to it. by going a light dial i hope i have future-proofed it for when my eyes are old and useless!

I have the same and received many compliments. Though I recognise that the 5205g is a contender, somehow it does not sit very well on some wrists. As they say, there is a patek for everyone, and yours is just meant for you. Enjoy !

what reference ? It has one more complication than the 5146. It's an (AP + leap year) = perpetual calendar + 24 hour indicator - power reserve complication.

Ref. 3712 was produced just less than a year from 2005-2006. Ref. 5131G is a regular production piece but not the most common reference around and 5140P is a Grand Complication and the production numbers are not huge. These three watches cover nicely most...
