Absolutely not convinced by this watch
For two reasons:
- aesthetically speaking: the open dial offers a view on something which is not very appealing... I have the feeling that the dial was bitten...
- and in terms of spirit: why Patek chose this "demonstrative" approach? I understood that technical solutions would remain behind the scene...

Like PP writes "Tourbillon" on the dial of several models and don't show them, I would have preferred a discrete mention such as "Advanced research". Nothing more

Actually, not visible reference to AR at all would be the greatest option. Only the wearer knows about the watch's internal qualities...
FYI: PP does not show tourbillons via open dials because
apparently UV affect lubricants. As the new adv res aquanaut innovative bit is lubricant free, it has motivated the open dial. Check out Wei Koh\'s interview of T. Stern on Revolution Watch. Best.
Well service costs and lengths differ significantly between a tourbillon and a "simple" skeleton.

I think that this watch has everything from the current Aquanaut collection, added to a very nice blue colour combination that matches the white gold warmth very well. The Dual Time complication I detailled a little in my 5164R review is very well designe...

I am more of a "complicated" guy, I like complications! not the personal stuff, though. I have the 5550 AR and I love it because of the "tech" and the design. I can easily buy a PP 5140 but I find the 5550 design to be perfect so I got one. With the 5650A...
Pricing is a different matter all together. Relative to R should it be that much more? Well tough to argue I suppose...

I like it but won't own it. An Aquanaut for me is the watch I use st the beach or in the pool.
With this in G in restricts its function (to me). However for someone looking for a 5164R....this is the hot alternative!

I think the technical sophistication will be appreciated with time.

Decisions are always easy for me. I need just a few seconds. But sometimes I go totally wrong!
However, with 5960 it is damn difficult to go wrong. Any version is simply stunning - it's just a matter of taste to rank them. Best, Kari

Indeed, the 5960 is a very different and very interesting reference: movement origin, complications, dial layout, decoration choices... so much to like. As you say, the ranking is difficult, even if I'm helped by the fact the P versions are a little heavy...
