In some variants, day & months have been placed
together with a smaller date arch going from 9 to 3 o'clock. Here are two platinum examples (but I personally prefer the wider date arch, going from 8 to 4 o'clock):

I prefer this second version with the day and month apertures positioned at the perimeter of the dial.
The other version I prefer positions the day and month apertures in a vertical orientation. I also like the legibility of the date numerals on this version which are pushed out further to the perimeter of the dial. Photo from Class Watches Thanks for brin...

It definitely looks ‘cleaner’.
